Central Texas Marines

Purpose

The Central Texas Marines is an informal organization with the sole mission of hosting an annual Marine Corps Birthday Breakfast Celebration in central Texas. It is a time to socialize, hear great speakers, and observe time-honored Marine Corps traditions!

Marines & Navy Corpsmen, those who have served with Marines, family members and special guests are invited.

History

The breakfast event began in 2011 as an informal home gathering of Salado Marines & Navy Corpsmen who served with Marines.

The following year, 2012, a public event was held at Johnny's Steaks & BBQ (Salado) with 72+ Marines & Corpsmen attending in a room meant for 55! Iwo Jima veteran Keifer Marshall was the keynote speaker.

In 2013, at the Longhorn Conference Center of Stagecoach Inn (Salado), Lt. General Jefferson D. Howell of the LBJ School of Public Affairs and Karoni Forrester, daughter of a Vietnam MIA, spoke to an audience of 140. This event was expanded to include family and special guests.

On 8 November 2014, the event was held at the Bell County EXPO Center, with 253 attendees. LtCol W. R. Spicer USMC(Ret), Aviator and Publisher was the Keynote speaker.

On 14 November 2015, the event was held at the Cultural Activities Center, Strasburger Hall, in Temple Texas, with 287 attendees. SgtMaj James E. Booker USMC(Ret) was the Keynote speaker.

On 12 November 2016, the event was held again at the Cultural Activities Center, Strasburger Hall, in Temple Texas. MGen Angela Salinas (Ret) was the Keynote speaker.

‚ÄčOn 11 November 2017, the event was held at the American Legion Post 331, Temple, Texas. Col William "Bill" Bauer (Ret) was the keynote speaker.
